1) What Is Keyword Research?

Keyword research is the process of finding and analyzing search terms that people enter into search engines. These insights help you understand your audience’s questions, problems, and priorities. The goal is to identify keywords that combine relevance, search volume, and realistic competition levels.

2) Understanding Search Intent

Every keyword carries intent — the user’s goal behind the query. Search intent typically falls into three categories:

  • Informational: Learning something (“what is on-page SEO”).
  • Commercial: Exploring options (“best SEO tools 2025”).
  • Transactional: Ready to buy or act (“buy Ahrefs subscription”).

When planning content, match your page type to the right intent — a detailed blog post for informational queries, comparison guides for commercial ones, and product or signup pages for transactional intent.

3) On-Page Optimization Basics

Once you know your target keyword and intent, it’s time to optimize your page. Good on-page SEO makes your content discoverable and enjoyable. Focus on clarity, structure, and user experience — not keyword stuffing.

Essential Elements:

  • Title Tag: Include your main keyword naturally within 60 characters.
  • Meta Description: Compelling summary that encourages clicks (under 160 chars).
  • Headings (H1–H3): Organize content for easy scanning and hierarchy.
  • URL Structure: Keep it short, descriptive, and keyword-aligned.
  • Internal Links: Connect related content to help users (and crawlers) navigate.

4) Measuring and Iterating

SEO isn’t a one-time setup. Track performance using tools like Google Search Console or Ahrefs. Watch which keywords drive traffic, how users behave on-page, and refine content to improve rankings and engagement.

Try This:
  1. Find 5 keywords relevant to your business using a keyword tool.
  2. Note their search intent (informational, commercial, transactional).
  3. Create or update a page to match that intent and optimize your meta tags.
