Hands-On: Finding the Right AI Tools
In this workshop, you’ll systematically assess and match AI tools to your actual needs.
Exercise 1: Task & Workflow Audit (10 min)
List 5 tasks you perform regularly that feel repetitive, time-consuming, or low-value:
- Task: __________ | Time/week: _____
- Task: __________ | Time/week: _____
- Task: __________ | Time/week: _____
- Task: __________ | Time/week: _____
- Task: __________ | Time/week: _____
For each task, answer:
- Is it repetitive or creative?
- What format or modality? (text, image, code, audio, data)
- What is current quality vs desired?
- What are the main bottlenecks or frustrations?
Exercise 2: AI Tool Candidates (15 min)
Based on your tasks, brainstorm AI tools that could help. Use a table like this:
Your Task | Candidate Tool | Free Tier or Trial? | Priority to Test (High / Med / Low) |
---|---|---|---|
__________ | __________ | Yes / No | __________ |
__________ | __________ | Yes / No | __________ |
__________ | __________ | Yes / No | __________ |
For each candidate, note:
• Key feature(s) that match task
• Potential drawbacks
• How it might integrate into your current workflow
Exercise 3: Pilot & Evaluation Plan (5 min)
Pick top 1–2 tools and draft a small pilot plan:
- Tool name: __________
- Start date: __________
- Use case / task to test: __________
- Success metric(s): e.g. time saved, quality, user feedback
- Duration of pilot: e.g. 1 week, 2 weeks
After the pilot, reflect on:
- What worked well?
- What friction or failures occurred?
- Would you keep using it? Why / why not?
